Hello all,

Our camp is still scheduled for Wednesday, December, 30 through January 2. After several conversations with our school administration over the past few days, we have to move forward utilizing Phase 1 protocols. In Phase 1, we are only allowed to rehearse in groups of 10 and for 2 hours a day. Our camp schedule will be a combination of in-person and virtual instruction to accommodate district guidelines.

Because of these recent developments, I have created a schedule to maximize our rehearsal times and allow us to not lose too much momentum as we officially begin the season. Below is the in-person schedule for all 4 camp days. Please show up 15 minutes early to move your equipment! You will receive an email with additional virtual sessions next week.

Mallets: 9:30a-11:30a – Courtyard

Cymbals & Rhythm: 9:45a-11:45a – Location TBD

Battery: 10:00a-12:00a – Tennis Courts

The staff and I will move all of the equipment outside of the band room before rehearsal starts. You must arrive 15 minutes early to move your equipment to your location. If your time starts at 9:30, you need to be ready to play music at 9:30, not still moving your equipment.

After rehearsal is done, all students will drop their equipment off in front of the band room, and staff will disinfect and put everything away. Students cannot “hang out” on campus after rehearsal.

I am in constant contact with our Athletic Director, SHS Administration, District Administration, and the school board. I am trying extremely hard to get us more daily hours on campus for our camp, but right now this is where we’re at. Things are changing every day, and hopefully we will be able to extend our in-person times. If not, at least we will get some time playing together.

Please practice as much as you can in preparation for camp.

Thank you for your flexibility during this time, and please know my number 1 priority is making music safely with all of you. We will adapt, we will persevere, and we will get through this… Sahuarita Indoor Percussion will have a successful season.
