Parents and Students,
We have a busy couple weeks ahead as we go into fall break. My schedule has been a lot more demanding this semester, so it's been a bit more challenging for me to fire off emails as often as I'd like, so I'm going to cover a lot of ground here. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
1) We have our regularly scheduled Tuesday rehearsal tomorrow. Tomorrow is also the due date for money for our car wash fundraiser. Students have until tomorrow evening to turn in their envelopes and money. Each student is responsible for selling 5 tickets. This money will go a long way to rebuild our savings after our much needed trailer purchase, so your help is appreciated!
2) Percussion and guard sectionals are on Thursday at their normal time.
3) Friday we have the Homecoming Parade in the morning, along with the Homecoming assembly and game Friday night. I finally received the parade details for Homecoming this morning. Students should arrive to the Band Room Friday morning between 7:30A and 8:00A and need to get changed into uniform as soon as they arrive. Shuttles to take students from SHS to the start of the parade route (SPS) will be running between 8:00 and 8:30, so it's very important you be there early to have plenty of time to get changed and catch the shuttle. Remember to bring black socks and shoes. For Friday's game, tailgate will be at 4:45. I do have a few final details to check with STUCO on regarding Friday's game, but the current plan is that we will march our show at pre-game. I'll will send an update on this as soon as I have more info from STUCO.
4) On Monday, October 2, jazz band and orchestra have their first concert of the year at 6:00 in the SUSD auditorium. This will be a quick concert, and we'd love to see you all there.
5) Rehearsals next week are on our regular schedule.
6) Friday, October 6 is an early release day. Following dismissal from school (1:50P) we will rehearse for a while with our new props we will have next week prior to tailgate and our game Friday night.
7) Saturday, October 7 is our first competition in Peoria. I've attached a complete itinerary to this email. Please review it carefully. Admission to the show is $10.00, with children 5 and under free. We are in need of volunteers to help with pushing equipment into the stadium, waters, loading and unloading. Please let us know if you're available to volunteer and have not yet signed up.
8) Finally, looking ahead, after fall break is a busy time. Please review the calendar carefully, and don't forget that our rehearsals are on Mondays on October 23 and October 30 rather than our usual Tuesdays. Please plan accordingly!
Have a great week everyone.
