Upcoming Band and Orchestra Information

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! 

First, a huge congratulations and thank you to our band students for their performance at the Veteran's Day ceremony at American Legion Post 66 yesterday. This is easily one of the most important events we play each year, and it really does mean a lot for the community. Everyone commented on how much better you're sounding year to year and how thankful they are that we're willing to perform for them. Thank you!

Here is upcoming info that you need to know. Please look it over carefully!

1) FOR ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Butter Braids will be delivered on Tuesday, November 21 at 2:00. They will be ready to be picked up when the bell rings at 3:35. Parents, it is INCREDIBLY important that students take their butter braids with them at the end of the day or that someone be there to pick them up by 4:00. Butter braids are delivered frozen, and they MUST stay frozen until they're ready to be baked. I do not have the ability to keep the butter braids frozen if they aren't picked up, and we don't want a bunch of exploded pastries laying around!

2) SMMB rehearsals this week are from 5:00-8:30 on Tuesday and Thursday. With Thursday being our final rehearsal for the year, we will have our official state sendoff show (in uniform) at 8:00P. We're promoting this sendoff big at the school, and are hoping for a huge turnout! Everyone is invited!

3) Saturday is State Championships for SMMB. The itinerary for the day is attached!

4) SUSD Orchestra Day auditions for wind and percussion players take place Nov. 15 after school. I've attached the audition schedule to this email. I did my best to take into consideration all audition schedule requests.

4) Following Thanksgiving break, there are a few important dates on the calendar for band and orchestra (some added recently, some have been on the calendar for a while):

Tuesday, November 28: Winter Concert Dress Rehearsal for ALL Band Students from 4:00-6:00P*

Thursday, November 30: SUSD Orchestra Day Rehearsal @ SHS: 6:00-8:00P

Saturday, December 2: Winter Light Parade for SMMB. Call time is 4:30P; parade is at 6:00P**

Tuesday, December 5: Winter Concert Dress Rehearsal for ALL Band Students from 4:00-6:00P*

Wednesday, December 6: SUSD Orchestra Day Rehearsal @ WGHS: 6:00-8:00P

Thursday, December 7: Winter Band Concert @ 6:00P

Monday, December 11: SUSD Orchestra Day (Concert at 6:00P)

*These rehearsals will obviously conflict with after school sports. If you are an athlete participating in a winter sport, please talk with your coaches and plan on attending one of these two rehearsals. It doesn't make a strong difference to me which one you attend, but as we are combining three classes together in preparation for this concert, attendance from everyone at one of these rehearsals is necessary.

**Indoor Percussion students, Mr. C. and I are coordinating schedules to work with both indoor auditions and the light parade. We were only sent information for the light parade this weekend, but it is an important community event and so we need to accommodate doing both auditions and the parade.
