Happy Thursday Everyone!
A couple of quick announcements for everyone. Please read through this email carefully!
1) Study guides for Band, Orchestra, and Percussion finals are posted in Google classroom. Please make sure to have these completed by Monday so we can review. If you need a hard copy, let me know, but take some time over the next couple of days to get these done!
2) Any personal items in the band room, storage rooms, and in student instrument lockers need to be collected and taken home by the end of the day on Thursday next week. This includes marching shoes, gloves, etc. A deep clean will be done over the summer, and any personal items left in the band room at the end of the day on Thursday will be discarded.
3) All school owned instruments and equipment must be checked back in after graduation (meaning, turned in to me and left in the band room immediately following the graduation ceremony next Wednesday). On Thursday we will begin an inventory audit during 6th period, and all school owned instruments need to be present in the band room and accounted for. Students are welcome to check out instruments for the summer to practice (please do…I want you to!), however rental forms for next year must be filled out and signed first. I will make these forms available to everyone on Monday. On Thursday, we will process instruments being checked out first, so students with completed forms can take instruments home after 6th period or make arrangements to get instruments on Friday.
4) Graduation is Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00P. All students in band, orchestra, and percussion perform at this event. Here is an overview of the day.
7:15A: All PERCUSSION students need to be at the band room for graduation rehearsal. The march to the stadium is different this year, and we have been asked to make sure everyone from percussion is there so they can practice with the seniors. After graduation rehearsal, percussion students will report to 3rd period (the first class of the day) in time for their finals to begin.
5:00P: All band, percussion, and orchestra students report to the band room for our combined music rehearsal prior to graduation.
5:30P: Begin moving equipment to stadium
6:00P: Audio check in stadium
7:00P: Graduation begins
Immediately following graduation: move equipment back to band room. All personal instruments go home with students. All school owned instruments are left in the band room for inventory audit on Thursday.
Dress for graduation is Sunday best. Please remember we are outside in May…look nice, but be comfortable!
5) Last, but certainly not least, please remember that all students auditioning for Jazz Band need to complete an audition by the end of the week next week. Because of the high level of interest in jazz next year, these auditions will be competitive. Prepare to your best, and make sure you've made arrangements for me to hear you play, or someone else will take your spot!
