Sahuarita Indoor Percussion
Established in 2019, Sahuarita Indoor Percussion is an extra-curricular competitive percussion ensemble based out of Sahuarita High School. The group consists of the marching percussion section known as the battery (cymbals, snare, tenor, and bass drums) and the front ensemble section (glockenspiel, xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, auxiliary percussion, keyboard/synth, electronic samples, and drum-set) in a setting similar to marching band. Students combine elements of music and visual performance, marching, and perform advanced percussion arrangements in coordination with choreographed drill on a customized floor covering.
Sahuarita Indoor Percussion competes in both WGAZ (local) and WGI (national) circuits, and is primarily funded through Sahuarita High School Music Boosters, a 501(c)(3) parent organization, and is supported by Sahuarita High School Instrumental Music, and Sahuarita Unified School District.
Membership is open to all students at Sahuarita High School, Walden Grove High School, and Sahuarita Digital Pathways Academy.
Students interested in joining, or supporters wanting to know how you can help, may contact the indoor percussion director, Mr. Cervenka, at tcervenka@sahuarita.net
