Parents and Students,
I hope everyone is having a restful fall break! I just wanted to send out a few quick updates on things for next week. They can help you reach more people, support marketing initiatives, simplify event registration and payment processes, and ultimately boost ticket sales using event ticketing software. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. First, I want to again congratulate the Orchestra and Jazz Band on a great concert last week. I am so impressed with the growth both groups have shown this year. Also, a huge congratulations to the Marching Band on an outstanding job at the Peoria competition on Saturday. This was a VERY tough show, and we competed against some of the strongest programs in the state and proved we could hold our own. We got great feedback to take us into next week. A special shout out to guard for their second place finish and to the band for second place visual scores!
On to next week’s info: Please look it over carefully:
1) Our annual butter braid fundraiser is underway! This fundraiser is one our biggest of the year, and people look forward to this sale every year. Students all received their order forms with information right before break. We are asking everyone to sell 7 butter braids. Money is due back on November 7, and the delivery date here at the school is November 21…just in time for Thanksgiving break! I highly recommend taking the order form around to your workplace, family events, etc. These things practically sell themselves. Last year, we profited over $5,000 on the butter braids, and I’m certain we can crush that again this year. There will be prize drawings for students who participate in each class, as well as a prize for the overall top seller.
2) Tuesday, October 17: Marching Band rehearsal 5:00-8:30. This rehearsal is our last rehearsal before UA Band Day, so make this one count!
3) Wednesday, October 18: Orchestra Dress rehearsal 3:00-4:30. This is our dress rehearsal for Fall Orchestra Festival on Friday, and is very important!
4) Thursday, October 19: Percussion and Guard sectional: 3:45-6:00.
5) Friday, October 20: Fall Orchestra Festival @ Tucson High. A copy of the itinerary is attached to this email. Please look it over carefully. If you are planning on traveling to Tucson HS to watch the orchestra perform, please let me know and I can pass along additional information as needed.
6) Friday, October 20: SHS vs. RUHS Football Game and Senior Night. Senior Night festivities will take place prior to the game on the football field, and our senior dinner for seniors and their parents will be held in the SHS cafeteria at 5:00. The schedule for the football game otherwise operates as a normal game with tailgate for non-seniors at 4:45 and our performance at halftime, but anticipate moving to the field around 6:25 or 6:30.
7) Saturday, October 21: UA Band Day @ University of Arizona. A copy of the itinerary is attached to this email. UA Band Day is a cashless event, so students and spectators will need to bring a card or use a reverse ATM to make any purchases on site. Tickets for parents and spectators have the ability to be purchased in advance through the Fine Arts Box Office (520) 621-1162, the following link below.
Ticket pricing: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (55+), Students (K-12 and UA Students) and UA Employees; Kids ages 5 and under are free. An electronic version of the program will be available on the prideofarizona.org, azmba.org, or by QR code in the stadium. For tickets, visit:
College of Fine Arts Box Office website: https://am.ticketmaster.com/uacfa/BandDay2023 or
U of A Band Day website: https://bandday.music.arizona.edu
Also, the UA Bookstore will be selling apparel on the southeast side of the stadium bookstore. Just like concessions, the bookstore is CASHLESS. There will be two reverse ATM’s which will take cash, and give you a credit card with the amount given to the machine.
You can Pre-Order your Band Day Apparel here: shop.arizona.edu/band-day
Online sales for apparel go up until October 13, 2023.
8) Finally, band students, please don’t forget that on Monday, October 23 we have rehearsal for our competition on Tuesday, October 24. Because this is the ONLY rehearsal we have between Band Day and the Flowing Wells show, attendance at this rehearsal is incredibly important! Please plan accordingly!
Have a great rest of your week everyone!
