Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a restful weekend. I just wanted to send out a quick email update with things that are coming up for the next couple weeks:
1) A friendly reminder: we are in the middle of our car wash fundraiser! Each student has an envelope for car wash ticket sales they were given last week. (If your student hasn't mentioned it yet, please ask them about it). Each student is asked to sell 5 Mister car wash tickets, good for Mister's best car wash. Each ticket sells for $20, which is the price of the wash if you just go to Mister, but if you buy the ticket from us we get to keep $10 per ticket!
All car wash money is due on Tuesday, September 26, and tickets will be given out at that time.
Please help us meet our goal of 400 tickets sold! As we just bought our second equipment trailer, this will really help us in building back our savings!
2) Next week is a busy week, and there are a couple of important things to know:
Monday we have the school lip dub during the day. Students will be in uniform for that, so everyone needs to bring black socks and their band shoes with them to school on Monday.
Friday is Homecoming: I'll send out more details as it gets closer, but we have the Homecoming parade in the morning, followed by the assembly, and then the game that night. We will be performing at pregame at the Homecoming game.
Looking ahead to future events:
October 2 we have our Orchestra and Jazz Band concert at 6:00
October 6 we have a home game
October 7 we have our first competition of the season at Peoria HS.
After October 7, there are no events over fall break.
3) Finally, we've had an uptick in sickness lately. Students, please make sure you're staying hydrated, getting lots of rest, washing your hands often, and eating well. Rest when you can to avoid missing rehearsal dates.
With that in mind, please remember that if you miss rehearsal as we go into competition season, we may or may not be able to catch you up…meaning you may not be able to perform. Attendance is imperative for our success, and several of us are racking up absences due to sickness. If you're sick and contagious, stay home for the day, but if you just have a headache, are exhausted, sore, etc, we shouldn't be missing rehearsals. Your team is counting on you for their success.
Thank you for all that you do. Have a great week!
